Union State Bank (USB) recently completed an internal drive to raise funds for United Way. The end result was $20,692 pledged by USB staff for 2024.
“I am appreciative of all of the Union State Bank staff who considered and/or supported the local United Way during our recent drive at the bank. The campaign provided an opportunity for our staff to make a considerable impact within their local communities. Our teams’ efforts and generosity certainly mean a lot to the United Way, the agencies that they serve and the individuals whose lives are affected by this internal campaign,” said Eric Kurtz, Union State Bank Chief Executive Officer.
United Way is a nonprofit organization that operates globally, spanning over 1,100 communities, with initiatives focused on education, income and health. Union State Bank’s gifts will provide local support through Harvey County United Way (Newton), United Way of the Plains (Ark City, Udall, Wichita and Winfield), Bartlesville Regional United Way (Bartlesville) and United Way of Central Oklahoma, Inc. (Edmond).
Union State Bank has a long-standing partnership with United Way through both donations and volunteerism. Ryan Valencia, Vice President and Director of Retail Services for Union State Bank, is one of the 47 team members who pledged for 2024, and also a volunteer to his area United Way chapter.
“I participate in Opportunity on the Plains. This is the largest annual grant investment program from United Way on the Plains to help meet the most pressing needs in our communities. I get to use my banking experience to help allocate funding to multiple financially related organizations,” Valencia said.
Opportunity on the Plains is the largest, annual investment program from United Way of the Plains. The program invested $5.4 million in local projects for the 2023-24 budget.
“The funds we allocate are the funds gathered by United Way throughout the year including through employee pledges. We are experts in our field and it is important that we use that and pay it forward. The goal is to help empower people to become financially stable,” explained Valencia.
